USBeXtreme 1.0
USBeXtreme allows you to store your PS2 games onto an external USB hard drive, then run them directly from the USB hard drive connected to your PS2 console.
USBeXtreme differs from HDAdvance in that you must use a PC to format the hard drive and install games to it; the USBeXtreme disc itself runs in your PS2 and allows you to play games stored on the hard drive.

Requirements
You will require the following in order to use USBeXtreme:
- The USBeXtreme software itself
- An external USB hard drive, or an external USB enclosure with a suitable hard drive to go in it
- A PC with a USB port (we would recommend a USB 2.0 port, as this will make installing games much faster)
- Windows 2000 or Windows XP (we are currently investigating the possibility of using the software with other operating systems)
USBeXtreme Limitations
Whereas HDAdvance allows games to load much faster than from their original discs, due to the limitations of the PS2 USB port USBeXtreme is only able to load games from the hard drive at about the same speed as from CD or DVD.
The advantages of using USBeXtreme for your games are therefore to reduce wear-and-tear on your PS2, keep your original discs free from dirt and potential scratches, and to make playing your games more convenient (as you will no longer have to swap discs when you want to play a different game).
Please note however that when using USBeXtreme we have experienced interruption to video that would normally stream from the game disc, i.e. during intro sequences or cut scenes. This is again due to the limitations of the PS2 USB port, and is normal behaviour for this product.
