What you need for network gaming?
(1) An Ethernet broadband internet connection
of atleast 512kbps. If you haven't got a broadband connection yet, simply contact your telephone company, internet service provider (ISP) or cable company for details on getting hooked up to broadband.
Mention that you intend to use the connection for playstation 2 network gaming, since this will allow the service provider to advise you on the most suitable package for your needs. It's also worth asking if they can supply you with, or recommend, and ethernet enable modem.
(2)A broadband modem. preferably with an ethernet connection. Your ISP may be able to recommend a suitable ethernet enabled modem solution.
(3)A network cable. Sometimes called an ethernet cable. If this means nothing to you, dont worry, its just a simple connector cable, which joins your playstation 2 to your broadband modem/router.
(4)A playstation 2 with an buit-in network connector or external network adaptor (ethernet) (for playstation2). If your playstation 2 has a port labelled network' on the back, then you're set. Once you have installed the network adaptor, your playstation 2 will be network-ready.
(5) A memory card (8mb) (for playstation 2) with atleast 94kb of free space.
(6) The network access disc and network access coed. If you have a network-enabled playstation 2, you can get a network access disc by registering online at www.ps2registration.com. Your network access code is the number shown on the back of your console's registration booklet and looks something like this;
1234567-8912345.
If your playstation 2 does not have a built-in network connector, you should purchase a separate network adaptor (ethernet)(for playstation 2). You'll find the network access code and packaged alongside the bundle network access disc and network cable. If, for some reason, you do not have a network access disc, please contact your local SCEE customer services department (contact number can be found in your user documentation or the back pages of all games manuals). They will advise you how you can obtain one.
(7) Make a note of your playstation 2's model and serial number. These numbers are located on your console. You need both number to complete your registration. If you have a playstation 2 with an external network adaptor(ethernet) (for playstation 2), this information should be noted down before installing the network adaptor.
(8) All you need now is game. Luckily we've included a full copy of the all-action hardware: Online arena on the network access disc, so you're immediately ready to dive into the world of network gaming. Once you've got everything listed above, it's simply a matter of putting it all together.
Follow the above steps and you should be up and running in no time at all.
